How is it Christmas again already? Time for the annual mad dash to find something that will appease friends and family members as they tuck into their fifth glass of sherry/cup of egg nog/bowl of gravy… So could an e-cigarette fit the bill?
As a supplier of e-cigarettes, we are going to lean heavily into the ‘yes’ camp, but that does not prevent us from being able to discuss who it would suit and why it could work as a pretty thoughtful gift.
As the weather forecast looks increasingly bleak we’ve decided to add some November nearly-festive cheer to the depressing reports of Arctic winds and disruptive snow which are on the way by listing the SKYCIG team’s favourite things about winter. “Madness! Winter is horrible!” we hear you cry but there is a lot to love about this time of year…
Happy Bonfire Night!
“Remember, remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason, why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.”
We’ve officially reached the time of year when all vapers really breathe a sigh of relief that they have an alternative to standing out in the bitter cold with a cigarette. Or perhaps you’re enjoying the irony that every non-smoker in the country is standing out in the dark and cold for a change!?
Either way, if you’re out for the fireworks tonight and using your SKYCIG e-cig, we would recommend using one of our cosy winter flavours such as vanilla or cinnamon to go with the warm, hot beverage you take with you as you celebrate poor Guy Fawkes getting caught back in 1605.
We’ve also got a bit of Bonfire Night trivia for you to take with you – in the days of the Gunpowder Plot tobacco was as controversial as it is today; in 1604, the year before Guy Fawkes was caught, King James I wrote “A Counterblaste to Tobacco” and increased import tax on tobacco by an enormous 4,000%!
“I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.”
Douglas Adams’ legend lives on not only in the form of his books, but also in his struggle with meeting deadlines for literary/journalistic projects and the brilliant way he summed up this bad habit. Difficulty in meeting goals and deadlines is something anyone can relate to and perhaps particularly those who are trying to stop smoking or reduce their tobacco consumption.
It goes without saying that this is never going to be a simple change and one common piece of advice is to set goals during this time, but is it really necessary? Surely by saying you want to quit the cigs or cut down you have made your intentions clear? Everyone will have their own way of achieving an overall goal like this, but perhaps there is something to be said for setting smaller goals on the way there?
Happy Halloween! Last night we held our Halloween themed Quarterly Business Review and it may have been our best one yet! After a week of Halloween themed activities, including apple-bobbing, mummy-wrapping and pumpkin carving we all donned our best and most scary costumes and headed to a spooky basement bar. The business side of things was insightful and successfully served its purpose of keeping everyone in the company in the loop with our latest goings-on and achievements. Of course after this it was time to party!
How far would you go to encourage a loved one to make the switch? According to reports from the Metro and Daily Mail last week an unnamed Russian oil tycoon commissioned a diamond encrusted Shisha Stick worth over £500,000 in order to encourage his girlfriend to give up tobacco and use this bling alternative.
In support of Stoptober 2013 the SKYCIG team travelled up the country from London to Glasgow for SKYCIG’s Stoptober Amnesty Roadshow, encouraging the smokers of the UK to make the switch to SKYCIG e-cigarettes. It was a fun but tiring week and, ultimately, the results were completely worth it. We kept a count of how many cigarettes we collected in the SKYCIG bin and how many e-cigarettes we gave away in each city we stopped at and can now reveal the outstanding results:
A new sponsorship agreement between SKYCIG and Wolves will see fans able to both purchase and use e-cigarettes in the stadium
Wednesday 16th October 2013, London, UK – SKYCIG, a leading premium electronic cigarette brand, has today announced a two-year deal to become an official partner of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC (Wolves). The partnership includes permission for SKYCIG products to be sold and used within certain areas of the stadium, a move which will provide fans with an alternative to smoking, which is banned at Molineux Stadium.
The final race of the season saw the Ginetta GT Supercup series return to where the season began; the twisting, undulating circuit of Brands Hatch in the South East of England. As ever, the SKYCIG team were present at this hallowed circuit to let the local fans experience the NRG nicotine-free e-cigarette and also the various nicotine-based flavours we have to offer. As this was the last race of the season there was a sense of urgency amongst the fans, eager to make sure they would have an opportunity to win the SKYCIG Ginetta G40R car or track day experience with Tom Ingram.
