The SKYCIG team is delighted to be associated with ‘speed demon’ Tom Ingram for the remainder of the 2012 Ginetta GT Supercup season. This exciting new partnership with the High Wycombe based driver is the first step for us into motorsport sponsorship, the SKYCIG team are right behind Tom in his quest to become a champion for the third year running. The star has now reached the half way point in the championship and with only 5 race weekends left winning the title is now in sight; SKYCIG takes a look at Tom’s daily routine and his goals within the coming months.
SKYCIG – Could you give the SKYCIG Team and our customers an insight into your day to day schedule?
Tom Ingram - My non racing day usually starts with me getting up at around 5am and driving to work, dependent on where I am coaching / instructing. It could be up to Cheshire it could be down in Surrey! I then have to try and get to any phone calls and emails which I usually try to make sometime for during that day in my breaks or lunch. I would normally be finished work by about 17.30 – 18.00 then drive home, getting home for about 20.00 – I then have to try and get some decent, healthy food down me, it is really important that I have a good balanced diet when I am in training. I then head to the
gym and normally finish around 22.00 – 22.45 then run home…it is important to constantly be building my strength. I then do this all over again!
Race weekends can be different depending on what time you are on circuit, but I would normally be up by 7am grab a shower and then go and see my team. I would then get some breakfast and head out for a walk of the track to see what kerb conditions / track conditions are like. Depending on these conditions it can vary so much on what time I am on track, determines what I am able to do throughout the day, every race weekend is different, which keeps it exciting!
SKYCIG - What you have been up to during your break between races?
Tom Ingram – I don’t suppose I have actually had a ‘break’ in these last 6 weeks or so since the Croft race. Things have been manic, with meetings, work, fitness, working on the car. I have been ‘flat out’ since the last round.
SKYCIG – What is your focus with the coming weeks for getting back on the track and your next race at Snetterton?
Tom Ingram – I’m fully focused on getting more wins at Snetterton, it’s now reached the half way point of the championship and if I’m going to win the title, I have really got to start getting some big points, poles, fastest laps and race wins. We have made huge leaps forward with the development of the car over the first half of the season and I know that the car will only be getting stronger and stronger as I also get more confident in the car. I am so excited ahead of the next rounds of the championship; it feels like ages since I was racing last!
Here is a list of the remaining race weekends. You can watch Tom’s next race live on ITV4 on Sunday 12th August at 15.25.
