How to Maximize Your SKYCIG Vapour Production on First Use
This page illustrates how to start using your SKYCIG as a pro, from your very first use. Before you read through this page, please see our video and tutorial on proper battery chargin
If your battery is blinking, it is likely to be drained and needs to be charged. Your SKYCIG will not work with a drained battery so make sure you recharge it prior to using the device. The other reason the batter may blink is if it is being overused. You will know the difference by leaving he cig along for 30 seconds, and trying it again. It if blinks the battery is drained, if it works (doesn't blink) then you were smoking to frequently. Please make sure you have a fully charged battery when you being to use your SKYCIG.
It is first important to understand how the electronic cigarette works. There are 3 important pieces: the battery, vapouriser, and the cartridge (containing the liquid). The battery sends a charge to the vapouriser which heats the liquid, creating the "liquid". Here are some quick bullets on getting more vapour which we will expand on below.
1. Always store and hold the cigarette mouth piece up, battery down
2. Make sure you have a fully charged battery
3. Prime your vapouriser – give it 10 short "puffs" before taking longer drags
Let's get started! SKYCIGs have a short "break in" period, much like the engine of a new car. During this period, there is plenty you can to expedite it, or eliminate it all together. Key points below:
First Watch this Instructional Video
Please note this video was produced before we moved to our new 2 piece cigarette with cartomizers. Our new kits with cartomizers make getting started even easier, as it elliminates the need for a separate vapourisers. The vapouriser is built into each cartridge
Basic Setup: your starter kit showed up with 2 batteries, and 2 vapourisers. Both vapourisers have a blank cartridge on them. Please remove this and add a new cartridge. With a blank cartridge you obviously won't get any vapour. Also make sure you have a fully charged battery. If the battery is blinking then you need to recharge it.
The vapouriser: each vapouriser is quality tested prior to it being released for distribution. Through the testing period, liquid is applied to the vapouriser and over the duration of its packaging and shipment, it can become condensed. With a fully charged battery, screw the vapouriser into it (without a cartridge). Now shake the combined pieces floor to ceiling for about 10 seconds. You should see the battery light up and the vapouriser "steam". The point here is to loosen up any condensed liquid, and remove it by heating up the vapouriser so it stems out any condensed liquid.
The Cartridge: Once you have followed the exercise above, firmly press on a new cartridge. With this, turn the cartridge a half turn to break the seal and open up the airflow. Now, remove the cartridge and ensure there is no remnant aluminum foil on the vapouriser. After you have verified this, press the cartridge back onto the vapouriser firmly.
Holding and Storing the SKYCIG: It is very important that you hold and store the SKYCIG with the battery pointed down, and the mouthpiece point to the ceiling. This allows gravity to push the liquid down over the vapouriser, not away towards the mouthpiece. Also, heat rises! The heat from the vapouriser will help release the liquid down over it. We recommend before using the product, to make sure it has been stored vertically for some time.
Priming the vapouriser – For you first few uses, this is very important. Hold the cigarette at a downward angle and take 10-15 short, easy "mouth pulls" and quickly release. Do not actually inhale the vapour. The goal here is to keep the battery lit for about 10 seconds without going out. This will heat up the vapouriser and release the liquid. With each "mouth pull" you should release a considerable amount of vapour. You can clearly see this in the video above. Also please note, the battery has a built in safety mechanism that will cut circuit if the battery is being used to fast or frequently. If this occurs, the battery will blink several times and deactivate. This may not be a sign that your batter is drained, but rather you are "priming" the battery in excess.
Smoking SKYCIG: After you have primed the vapouriser (above) you should be ready to smoke it. It is important to note that the manner in which you smoke this electronic cigarette will differ from the way you smoke a traditional cigarette. Many users want to immediately take the product and give it a huge drag. This will typically cause the cig to "back up" and is often the reason you may feel like you get 1 good first drag, but little vapour on each drag after. The key to smoking this device is to take soft, long pulls of 5-8 seconds. If you feel resistance when inhaling, do not fight it and pull harder! This is counterproductive and will produce even less vapour.
After you have primed the vapouriser (step above), start your drag with a light, short mouth pull, and then progress into a longer 5-8 second smooth drag. By starting the pull lightly, you are activating the vapouriser which will benefit the vapour production greatly. Remember when smoking, keep the battery pointed at a slightly downward angle.
